Towell, Yager & Ferguson Family Photos at Finley Farms

Some photo sessions come together quickly.

And some take two years and two postponements to finally make it onto the calendar. 😅

The Towell, Yager, and Ferguson family's session at Finley Farms was definitely the latter—but it was completely worth the wait.

From a Wedding Day to Family Photos

My connection with this family actually started almost exactly two years earlier when I photographed Amelia and Sam's wedding in July 2024.

Amelia's sister, Chloe, was there that day, and we immediately had plenty to talk about. Chloe is also a photographer, our daughters are around the same age, and it was just one of those wedding days where you genuinely connect with the people you're working with.

So when Chloe reached out about a year later asking if I'd photograph their family, saying yes was easy. I absolutely love getting the chance to reconnect with past couples and their families outside of the wedding day.

Actually getting the session to happen, however, proved slightly more difficult.

Two Postponements Later...

We were almost there in 2025 when Chloe reached out to let me know that her dad had been in an accident. Thankfully he was okay, but surgery and several months in a sling meant family photos understandably needed to wait.

Life got busy, as it does, and eventually we landed on a new date in May 2026.

And then Missouri weather entered the chat.

A couple of days before the session, the forecast was calling for an absolute downpour all weekend. So once again, we decided it would be better to wait.

Finally, in July 2026—almost two years to the day after Amelia and Sam's wedding—we made it happen.

A Summer Evening at Finley Farms

Was it warm?

Absolutely.

July in Missouri was doing exactly what July in Missouri does.

But after two years of trying to get everyone together, a little heat wasn't going to stop us.

Finley Farms gave us a beautiful backdrop for the evening, and more than anything, I just loved getting to spend time with this family again. Sessions like this are such a fun reminder that some of my favorite relationships in photography have started with a wedding and continued long after the gallery was delivered.

This one may have taken a little longer than expected to happen, but I'm so glad we kept trying.

It was absolutely worth the wait.
