My Favorite Wedding Days (And Why They Worked)

Before I dive in, a quick disclaimer for anyone scrolling through this post: photography styles and skills evolve over time. Some of these weddings are from earlier in my career and may not perfectly reflect my current editing style — but every single one of them still holds a special place in my heart for why they worked so well.

Also… narrowing this down was harder than expected. Apparently I’ve loved more weddings than I realized.

These are the wedding days that stuck with me — not just because the photos were beautiful, but because the days felt good. The couples were present. The plans were thoughtful. The vibes were right. And in most cases, the couples trusted me enough to just let things unfold.

Stephany & Jacob | Snowy Valentine’s Day Wedding | 2.14.21

Snow. On a wedding day. Enough said. This was very early in my photography career, and I had never photographed a wedding in the snow before — which made it both exciting and terrifying. But something about the softness of the light, the calm that snow brings, and the intimacy of the day made this one unforgettable. Even now, these photos are still some of my favorites. Proof that sometimes the things you can’t plan end up being the most magical.

Mindy & Justin | Catholic Wedding with Multiple Locations | 4.23.22

This wedding was a lot of firsts for me. First wedding back after having my first baby. First time pumping while photographing a wedding. First Catholic ceremony. First wedding with multiple locations. Biggest bridal party I’d worked with at that point. It could’ve gone sideways — but it didn’t. I remember walking away from this one feeling genuinely proud of how I handled the day. Mindy and Justin were so kind, so patient, and so trusting. I’m still Facebook friends with them to this day, which honestly says a lot.

Hannah & Marshall | Stonegate Wedding | 10.9.22

This was during a season when I was still very hands-on with Stonegate couples on the venue side, and Hannah & Marshall were one of the couples who trusted me when I was still newer to photography. Their wedding was stunning — Hannah’s mom absolutely crushed the DIY decor — but what makes this one stand out for me personally is that I had just found out I was unexpectedly pregnant with my second baby about a week earlier. I was nauseous, emotional, and very much in denial… but I showed up, did my job, and no one ever knew. That one will always feel like a quiet personal win.

Samantha & Khailon | Family-Focused Wedding | 5.24.24

Some weddings just feel like home. Samantha & Khailon’s day stood out because their family treated me like I was part of it. From the moment I arrived, there was warmth, laughter, and genuine connection. Those are the weddings where the photos come easily — not because everything is perfect, but because the people are present.

Sydnee & Jeremy | Classic & Simple | 6.3.24

This wedding will forever live in my mind as simple, classic, and beautiful. Sydnee was one of the most chill brides I’ve ever worked with. She and Jeremy were so naturally sweet together, and their bridal party was a joy. This wedding also led to photographing Jeremy’s sister’s wedding later on — which is one of my favorite compliments as a photographer.

Lindsey & Jim | Country Club Wedding | 9.22.24

For some reason, this wedding gave me total Gilmore Girls vibes — and I loved it. I was deep into Katelyn James’ education at the time and felt like I was really applying what I was learning. Amazing vendors, gorgeous light, and a setting that felt elevated without being stuffy. This one marked a noticeable growth moment for me creatively.

Andrea & Greg | Christmas Wedding | 12.14.24

Andrea & Greg are the kind of couple you just want to stay friends with. Their story, their kindness, and their connection made the day incredibly meaningful — and somehow they ended up with some of the most beautiful “winter” fall photos I’ve ever been part of. A December wedding that didn’t feel cold or dark at all.

Rachel & Caiden | Rainy Wedding at Haseltine Estates | 5.18.25

This one was hard to leave off… and honestly impossible. Rainy weddings don’t usually make favorite lists, but Rachel & Caiden were so chill, so grounded, and so trusting. The wedding was beautifully DIY’d by insanely talented family members (you would never know the flowers and cake were done in-house), and the reception turned into people dancing in the rain. The vibes were unmatched. And I was proud of myself for fully leaning into the day instead of fighting it.

Sarah & Braiden | Venue at Shadow Rock | 8.1.25

This was Jeremy’s sister’s wedding, so walking in already knowing people felt extra special. It was also a venue I had wanted to photograph for a long time — paired with incredible vendors, stunning florals, and a jaw-dropping sunset. I remember thinking, okay… these are career favorites.

Emily & Erik | Classic Black & White Stonegate Wedding | 8.23.25

Another timeless, classic day that stands out for all the right reasons. Emily & Erik’s families were warm and down-to-earth, their bridal party was so fun, and the details? Some of my favorite detail photos I’ve ever taken. They were up for anything — sunset photos, veil shots, even limo photos at the end of the night — and that openness made the gallery shine.

Honorable Mentions

Joanna & David
My only girl cousin, and someone I’ve looked up to my entire life. A blended family, backyard wedding focused entirely on what mattered most. They let me take about two portraits — and honestly, that was perfect.

Daniel & Darby
My brother’s wedding, where I somehow managed to be a bridesmaid, co-photographer, editor, and guest. A day I’ll never forget for about a hundred reasons.

Why These Weddings Worked

When I look back, there’s a common thread through all of these days:

That’s what makes a wedding day memorable — and that’s what makes the photos last.
