Stacy & Daulton’s Rainy Fall Wedding at Samuel Cedars

Yes, you read that right — this wedding was the very next day after my brother’s wedding. Needless to say, I was running on caffeine and adrenaline… but I was genuinely excited for Stacy and Daulton’s day.

These two had booked their wedding quite a while back, and I’d already had such a fun time photographing their engagement session the fall before. Even with the forecast calling for steady rain, I knew the day would be full of joy — and it absolutely was.

Making the Most of a Rainy Wedding Day

The rain started early and didn’t let up for most of the day, but Stacy and Daulton took it completely in stride.

Rather than stressing, they embraced it — which always makes all the difference in photos. We ended up moving most of the portraits and the ceremony indoors, transforming the reception space into a beautiful, cozy backdrop.

This actually gave me a great excuse to bring out my off-camera lighting setup, and the result was some dramatic, glowy portraits that turned out to be among my favorites.

Indoor Ceremony, Beautiful Moments

Even though the ceremony wasn’t what they’d originally envisioned, it ended up being so sweet and intimate.

The purple and teal color palette added so much warmth to the space, and the lighting created this perfect soft ambiance that felt romantic and timeless. You could feel how much these two adored each other — rain or shine.

Post-Ceremony Portraits & a Dress Change

After the ceremony, we caught a small break in the weather and dashed outside for a few quick portraits.

Since Stacy was planning to change into a reception dress anyway, we didn’t have to stress about the gown getting a little damp — which meant we could fully enjoy those outdoor shots without worrying about perfection.

There’s something special about those just-married portraits in soft, rainy light — calm, natural, and real.

Dancing the Night Away

Once the formalities wrapped up, the rest of the night was pure celebration. The dance floor was packed, the music was upbeat, and it was such a fun way to end a marathon wedding weekend.

Even though the day didn’t go exactly as planned, it ended up being one of those weddings that perfectly captures what really matters: joy, laughter, and the start of forever — rain and all.

Final Thoughts

Weddings like Stacy and Daulton’s are such a great reminder that perfect weather isn’t what makes perfect photos — it’s the people in them.

And these two? Absolutely nailed it.
