Emily & Erik’s Engagement Session at Finley Farms

Emily & Erik’s engagement session at Finley Farms was the perfect mix of relaxed and meaningful—an easygoing evening that gave us beautiful light, unexpected pockets of magic, and a great reminder that sometimes the best sessions are the ones that don’t go exactly as planned.

We originally scheduled their session a bit earlier in the evening to avoid the chance of rain (Missouri spring weather, you know how it goes), but the skies ended up completely clear. That early golden hour came with a lot of light—maybe even a little too much at first—but Emily & Erik handled it like pros. We found some soft shaded spots to start and let the light mellow a bit as the evening went on, and the results were totally worth it.

One of my favorite moments from the session? Getting to shoot inside the Finley Farms chapel while the lights were on. That rarely happens, and it made such a difference in the vibe—warm, romantic, and absolutely beautiful. Some of my favorite indoor shots at that location, hands down.

We also explored a spot I hadn’t used in a while, and it honestly felt like we had wandered into a vineyard. Between the soft greenery, the glowing light, and the calm pace of the evening, the whole thing just had this quiet charm to it.

Emily & Erik were so easy to work with—kind, relaxed, and completely themselves in front of the camera. It made the whole session feel effortless in the best way. I already can’t wait to have them in front of my camera again this August at Stonegate Glass Chapel. Their wedding is going to be a good one!
